by in Fulfillment

Written by Jerry Becker, Director of Operations

Sounds easy enough right? But in the real world this simple task can sometimes be daunting and very expensive. There are entire groups, organizations, and even websites now that are entirely dedicated to separating the good from the bad when it comes to suppliers and vendors.

Puzzle Piece

With the advancements of the internet and personal computing, any outfit can ‘look’ legitimate and exciting. Businesses spend a lot of time, money and energy working through the chaff before they find a company that can fulfill their online promises on a consistent basis.

Many different motives drive companies in the profit driven 21st century. For sure, all companies must produce profits to survive and long lasting business relationships understand that; from both sides of the ledger. It does no good to develop a relationship based entirely on the lowest price if it means one of the companies will not be able to survive. I firmly believe in the old saying “You get what you pay for”. No matter how hard you try, you are not going to get a Cadillac for the price of a VW Beetle; you are not going to get a good steak dinner for the price of a fast food hamburger. The time and energy spent establishing, and then re-establishing secure business relationships is often outweighed by the sometimes miniscule savings from the ‘cheapest’ vendor.

A company that believes in doing the best job they can, not over promising, and doing it for a fair price is the type to hook up with and develop a long lasting relationship with. In the long run, it will not only save your company money, but it will also give you peace of mind that the ‘plumber’ will actually ‘fix your leak’ every time and not gouge you when you’re not looking.
